The Heart of Rawwas

The *ḥirz* of ar-Rawwās

Muḥammad Bahā’u d-Dīn ar-Rawwās, born in the year 1220 AH and passed away in 1287 AH, was a great scholar and the *ġawṫ*, the *quṭb*, and the *mujaddid* of the 13th century AH. He said in his book *Bawāriku l-ḥaqā’iq*, page 44, the following statement, the meaning of which is:

“Indeed, I saw the name of Muḥammad ﷺ written in this form: , and it is confirmed that the saints of Allāh among the descendants of Fāṭimah — peace be upon her — have declared that whoever carries the name of Muḥammad ﷺ in this form, or writes it on a sheet and hangs it in their home, or writes it in a *ruqʿah* [that is, diluting the ink in water and drinking it] — no harm will play with them, and sorrow will not overcome them, by the blessing of the Master of Humanity ﷺ. If it is written forty-one times and hung upon the ill, they are cured — or upon one afflicted with *ṣarʿ*, they awake, by the Will of Allāh. As for a woman facing difficulty in childbirth, if she wears it on her right arm, she delivers immediately, by the help of Allāh. Through it, the Muslim is protected, and calamity is repelled. For the fulfilment of needs, by the Power of Allāh, it is like a sharp sword. And if it is written in this form: and worn over the heart, its bearer is protected from evil *waswas* and the harm of jinn and humans.”
